We are excited that Xilinx has made the decision to open-source the Merlin compiler under the Apache license. The Merlin compiler was originally developed by the Falcon Computing Solutions, a spin-off from the VAST Lab, which was acquired by Xilinx in 2020. Multiple research projects in the VAST Lab, such as [S2FA], [HeteroCL], and [AutoDSE] make use of the Merlin Compiler
